Minnie Vinnies
"The question which is agitating the world today is a social one. It is a struggle between those who have nothing and those who have too much. Our duty as Christians is to throw ourselves between these two camps in order to accomplish by love what justice alone cannot do".
Frederic Ozanam 1833
The Mini Vinnies are the youngest members of the St Vincent de Paul Society, which is an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty in all its forms by providing assistance to people in need. They get together in schools and parishes across England and Wales to live out their mission of see, think, do, to support their local community and beyond.
At St Mary’s school we have 8 Mini Vinnies in Year 5. They are commissioned in an assembly at the start of each academic year as our Catholic ambassadors for the school. They help run whole school charity events as well as plan and deliver their own. They also support KS1 with their child-led class worships.
