The Wednesday Word

The Wednesday Word

Jesus used parables to tell them many things. “Once there was a man who went out to sow grain. Some seeds fell in good soil and the plants bore grain: some had one hundred grains, others sixty and others thirty.”

Matthew 13:3&8

The Wednesday Word is a very special 10 minutes, weekly time together, which is designed for families and school communities, to act as a gentle, regular invitation to Sunday Mass. It seeks to assist parents and carers to help their children to live well in our present-day culture; to help them grow in goodness and make safe and wise choices as they mature.

The Wednesday Word particularly seeks to reach the majority of parents and children (often more than 80% in many schools) who do not hear the Gospel read in church or read the Bible together as a family.

Children need to know that they are loved unconditionally, and the Wednesday Word helps them develop positive self-esteem by listening to and discussing the loving and encouraging Word of Jesus together.
