When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favoured, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

We are named St Mary’s School after Mary the Mother of Christ. She is a fantastic role model to all of us in her love and kindness to everyone as well as her devotion to God. She is someone who we can pray to in times of celebration or worry and who can intercede for us in heaven. We strive to be like Mary in our daily lives and she is a constant reminder that putting our love, faith and trust in God will lead to life with Him everlasting. Our school name reminds us that we are not simply just a school community but part of the Universal Body of Christ.
