We have been closely monitoring the forecast and the current Heat-Health Alert for London.

Temperatures on Friday are expected to be very high and our planned Sports Day venue has very little shade. In line with the hot weather guidance for schools, we have made the decision not to hold the full Y1–6 Sports Day at the park on Friday.

Children’s safety has to come first, particularly given the level of heat, high UV and the amount of vigorous activity involved.

We know this will be disappointing, but we feel it is the right decision. We will either rearrange to provide an adapted, lower-key activities in school when it is safe to do so.

Children should still come to school in PE kit on Friday and should bring a sunhat in all week.

Please apply sun cream before school.
