Weekly Update for Easter Friday 25th April 2025

Pope Francis RIP

On Saturday the whole church will gather, in Rome and online, to celebrate the life and witness of Pope Francis.  This is also a chance to thank God for his ministry, his teachings and his example.  And to pray:

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,

and let perpetual light shine upon him.

May he rest in peace.

Amen

May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,

through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Amen

Celebrate with us Crowning of the Queen of May

As we joyfully welcome the month of May, a special month dedicated to honouring Our Blessed Mother, we invite you to join us in celebrating Our Crowning of the Queen of May Day.

On Friday 2nd May, children will spend time with our statue of Mary and present their Class Marys and flower wreaths. Our statue in the prayer garden will be crowned with a wreath of flowers to honour her as the Queen of Heaven and the Mother of God.

This special day will conclude with a blessing of our statues and wreaths by Father Nico at 3:15pm.

Join Our May Rosary Club
In addition to the crowning, we warmly invite parents to join us again on Friday afternoons during dismissal to conclude our weekly set of Rosary Mysteries. It’s a peaceful and meaningful way to deepen our faith and come together in prayer during this Marian month.

Whether you're new to the Rosary or it's already a part of your spiritual life, everyone is welcome!

Let's make this May a month of grace, gratitude, and growing closer to Mary as a school family.

Mr Rushe to run the London Marathon for the NSPCC

Mr. Rushe, one of our Year 3 teachers, will be running the London Marathon in support of the NSPCC next Sunday the 27th April. Mr. Rushe would greatly appreciate any donations you can offer to help raise funds for this incredible cause. Your generosity will go a long way in supporting the important work the charity does. If you would like to donate then please follow this link or scan the QR code below.

Uniform Trial

It's summer uniform from now until the October half term and during this time we want to continue with our uniform trial.

Summer dresses become optional during this trial and girls can wear a white polo shirt (with or without logo) with grey shorts, grey trousers or grey skorts or a summer dress (as now with many wearing shorts underneath so that they can still be active).  Boys should wear a polo shirt (with or without logo) with grey 'school trousers' or 'school shorts'.  Ties are not worn with polo shirts.

EYFS (nursery and reception) children are not part of this trial and should continue to wear their current uniform.  There are no changes to the Y1-6 PE kits either.

New Menu

There's a new 4 week menu which is on ParentPay and here: www.smi.hounslow.sch.uk/Parents/School-Meals/.  As the choices have changed please take time to select meals with your child so that they know what they will be eating everyday.  Remember school meals are free for all children.

Remember that we do not allow jewellery and this includes earrings of any kind - please remove these before your child come into school.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
