Weekly Update for 28th March 2025
Laetare - Be Joyful!
At Mass this weekend we are reminded to be joyful as Easter is nearly here. This Sunday is 'Laetare Sunday' because of its call to be JOYFUL. We have more than one reason to be joyful too! Pope Francis has been released from hospital - thank you God!
Heavenly Father,
We come before You with grateful
hearts, giving thanks for the gift of our
Holy Father, Pope Francis. As he rests at the Vatican,
we ask for Your divine
protection and guidance to be upon him.
Grant Pope Francis strength and peace during this time of rest.
May he feel Your loving presence and be refreshed
in spirit, mind, and body.
Bless him with wisdom and courage as he
continues to lead the Church inspiring
us all in faith, hope and love.
Help us to support him through our prayers and actions.
May we follow his example of love, compassion, and service to others.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Term Dates for the rest of the school year
We break up for the Easter holidays next Friday at 2pm. Children return to school on Tuesday 22nd April for the summer term. Dates for the rest of the year and for the next two academic years are below. Remember we've closed on May Day - Monday 5th May.
School Council update
The elected members of the school council have been busy this month.
They have been busy discussing with their peers the new lunch menu for after Easter. They completed a questionnaire to gather the most popular and unpopular options from our current menu, tasted different foods during a food tasting morning and suggested new meals. A variety of changes have been made. They are outlined in the document below. Well done councillors for your excellent hard work and fantastic team work!

As part of our work on sustainable travel they have also been looking at road safety and parking.

Eco Warriors
After Easter, St Mary’s will relaunch the Eco Warriors scheme! As stewards of the earth, we have a responsibility to care for it. Taking care of our environment is one of the most meaningful ways we can show respect and gratitude.
Each class will earn one ‘Dojo’ point for every eco-friendly action they take. These actions can include picking up litter, recycling, switching off unnecessary lights, or closing doors to save energy. At the end of each half-term, the class with the most Eco Warrior points will win the school eco mascot!
Let’s work together to make a difference!
Mr Rushe to run the London Marathon for the NSPCC
We are excited to inform you that Mr. Rushe, one of our Year 3 teachers, will be running the London Marathon in support of the NSPCC on Sunday 27th April 2025. Mr. Rushe would greatly appreciate any donations you can offer to help raise funds for this incredible cause. Your generosity will go a long way in supporting the important work the charity does. If you would like to donate then please follow this link or scan the QR code below.
Attendance and Lateness - week ending 21st March
Well done to those classes with over 97% attendance!
Year 2 trip to Isleworth Library
Year 2 has a brilliant morning at Isleworth Library for a workshop which included story time, a tour of the library and a chance to spend some time reading. Children who have a library account, were able to choose a book to be issued and took these home with them.
The children are now aware of how to set up an account if they did not have one and are looking forward to visiting the library again to borrow a book and develop their love for reading.
World Book Day 2025
World Book Day this year was a roaring success! The children thoroughly enjoyed dressing in costumes as their favourite characters, listening to a different teacher read a story and spending time enjoying books together.
The Year 5 Junior Librarians enjoyed a well deserved trip to see famous children’s author, Ally Sherrick, talking about her experience as a children’s author. We were proudly the only school who arrived in costume (!) which gave our librarians a good giggle.
Curriculum Maps for the Spring Term - second half
Curriculum maps tell you what the children are learning from week to week. Use these and the Learning at Home resources to keep in touch with what your child is studying.
