Weekly Update for 27th September 2024 - St Vincent De Paul
Saint Vincent de Paul, beloved servant of the poor, may we follow your example and do good works among those whom society has abandoned, enslaved, or forgotten. Inspire us to feed the hungry, to love a child, to provide comfort and medicine to the sick, to clothe those who are threadbare, and to offer hope and our Lord’s words to all who need respite. Pray for us that we may commit ourselves selflessly to doing the same charitable acts that you did all your life, and intercede for us that we may have the favour of his guidance and strength and love upon this important and meaningful work. Amen.
Happy feast day to our Minnie Vinnies who will be commissioned at assembly on Monday morning.

Friends of St Mary's Isleworth - FOSMI
We’re delighted to announce as our first “Friends of St. Mary’s Isleworth” activity, the “Christmas Project”. Yes, the big event is only 12 weeks away but don’t worry, we have it covered!
Today, your child has brought home with them an order form and an A4 sheet of paper on which they can create a Christmas design, that can be printed on a range of products from cards to wrapping paper to coffee mugs.
Please read the artwork guidelines on the order form and be aware that whilst most art materials can be used, coloured pencils, white or silver colour on a white background and photographs are not recommended and will adversely affect the final printed design.
Top tip: bold and bright designs that fill the paper produce the best effect. Large areas of white background are less effective. There must also be a 5mm border around the edge of the design on the A4 sheet of paper. For further inspiration go to www.cauliflowercards.co.uk and view their gallery.
Artwork must be attached to the order form with the arrow on the form circled indicating the top of the work. Please keep designs flat and damage free, as marks will show on the final print.
Orders and payment must be made online using the unique code located at the top of the pupil order form. Please refer to your order form for further instructions. One design only per unique code.
The deadline for artwork and order forms is Friday 25th October 2024. We cannot accept anything later as it will affect the timings on the final printing for everyone.
If any other members of your family would like to join in then we do have a few spare order forms. Please remember each order/design needs its own unique order number so do not photocopy your child’s order form.
Delivery will be by the beginning of December.
We can’t wait to see the creative design and happy drawing!

Year 3 'Dino Dig' at the Natural History Museum
As part of our learning in science, history and geography, Year 3 visited The Natural history Museum. We took the opportunity to explore the Fossils from Britain gallery and observe ancient creatures such as trilobites and ammonites.
Whilst at the museum, we also visited the earthquakes and volcanoes exhibition. Here we examined: the structure of the Earth, how volcanoes are formed and what happens during a volcanic eruption. In the earthquake gallery, we were able to experience a simulation, showing what it was like during the 1995 Kobe, Japan earthquake.
The centre piece of our visit was taking part in a workshop called ‘Dino Dig’. During this activity, we identified a range of fossils and performed our own fossil dig. After this, we attempted to work out the name of our mystery specimens.
Pre-loved Uniform Sale Volunteers
We are still looking for parent volunteers to help with sorting and manning the tables for the pre-loved uniform events which we want to hold before half term. If you can offer some time with this, please contact the office on reply@smi.hounslow.sch.uk with 'Pre-loved Uniform events' in the subject line. Thanks for you support!
Attendance and Lateness - week ending 24th September 2024
Remember that children with 100% attendance this term will receive a badge during achievement award assembly.
Year 2 – ‘Clever Never Goes’ Workshop
PC Taylor from the Metropolitan Police Service visited year 2 on Thursday. He delivered a fantastic workshop and taught the children about how to spot dangerous situations and how to stay safe. He also shared tips about how to respond. The children discussed different scenarios and what to do and say when something isn’t ok. They asked lots of questions and enjoyed the workshop.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
