Weekly Update for 17th January 2025
The Jubilee Prayer
Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
be glory and praise for ever.
Amen
Pope Francis
Pope Francis has proclaimed this year to be a Jubilee Year of Hope. A ‘Jubilee Year’ is traditionally proclaimed by the Universal Church every 25 years. It is a particular year set aside to encourage the faithful to embark on pilgrimages and to renew a focus on spiritual life.
This 2025 Jubilee will be centred on the theme “Pilgrims of Hope,” it began with the opening of the Holy Door in St Peter's Basilica in Rome, on Tuesday 24 December 2024 and runs to the Feast of Epiphany 2026.
We are working closely with the Diocese and with other Catholic schools in our Hounslow Deanery to celebrate the Jubilee Year in School. We look forward to our Jubilee Launch Day for Schools coming later this month.
Spring Term 2025 Parents' Evenings
Parents evenings will take place in the week before half term, Tuesday 11th February (4.30pm - 7.40pm) and Thursday 13th February (3.30pm - 5.30pm), and will be face to face in school. You can sign up for a slot by visiting https://smisleworth.schoolcloud.co.uk.
Please note that Year 5 parents evenings are being held in a different week: Tuesday 4th February and Wednesday 5th February. Year 5 parents should use the link above to book one of these times.
The booking system will be open from Monday 20th January. Just as last term, when signing in as a parent, you will need to enter the same details that we have on file for you. The system will only let you log in if the details match. For your child’s class you will only need to use the class name:
For example:
Rosary
Loreto
Westminster
Willesden
Please contact your child's classteacher/s if you are not able to make the above times.
Achievement Awards Assembly - Monday 20th January
Due to all of the Christmas activities the second achievement awards assembly was postponed. It will take place on Monday 20th January. Children who have been awarded cups, certs, medals, badges, belts can bring these in and together we'll celebrate their achievement.
Some children will also receive a 100% attendance badge for the autumn term. All children should be working towards their badges for 100% attendance for this term and next - some will then earn two badges. Those that do really well and achieve 100% attendance across all 3 terms will receive a special badge to celebrate the achievement. Well done to these children who achieved 100% attendance for the autumn term!
