Weekly Update 10th May 2024 - The Ascension of the Lord

The Ascension of the Lord

Risen, ascended Lord, you came down to lift us up

You descended to earth that earth might ascend to heaven

You descended to the dead that the dead might rise to life In our struggles lift us up

In our tiredness lift us up Lift us Lord out of darkness into light, out of despair into hope

Lift us Lord out of sadness into joy, out of failure into trust

Lift us Lord out of anger into forgiveness out of pride into humility

Lift us Lord out of doubt into faith out of loneliness into community

Lift us Lord out of death into life.

Lift us into your heart to be with you for all eternity.

The Rosary Challenge in May

Traditionally we mark May as Mary's month.  In school we will be praying the Rosary each day at the end of the school day (3:15pm) at the statue of Mary.  Please join us.  You can also take part in the Mark 10 Mission's 'Rosary Challenge' during May.  If you'd like to take part - at home or in school - you can use this chart to track your progress

Walk to School Week 2024

This year, St Mary’s will be taking part in Walk to School Week from the 20th – 24th May. Our school will be joining hundreds of others from across the UK in a fun and engaging week-long activity, designed to make pupils experience first-hand the importance of walking to school.

This year's challenge encourages children to travel actively to school every day of the week. Pupils will be encouraged to walk, wheel, cycle and scoot to school every day of the week, earning stickers as they go along.

On Thursday 23rd May, we will hold our annual Walk to School Breakfast. Pupils who travel actively to school, for the majority of the week will be given a healthy snack and drink, before they start school.

Through this challenge, children will be well on their way to reaching their recommended 60 minutes minimum of physical activity per day before, even reaching the school gates.

Cultural Food Event 6th June 2024

We are thrilled to announce our upcoming Cultural Food Event.

This special event will be held on Thursday 6th June 2024 from 3.15pm and we warmly invite you to celebrate the rich diversity of our school community.

We encourage you to contribute a dish that represents your cultural heritage. This is a wonderful chance to showcase your favourite family recipes and share a piece of your culture with our school community. Whether it's a savoury main course, a delicious dessert, or a traditional snack, your contribution will help make this event truly special.

Let's come together to celebrate our diverse backgrounds and foster a greater understanding and appreciation for the world around us. Please contact Mr Cobbold at reply@smi.hounslow.sch.uk with ‘Food event 2024’ in the subject line for more information on how you can contribute and for more information about the event.

We look forward to tasting your delicious dishes and celebrating our cultural richness!
