Wednesday 26 March 2025 The Wednesday Word - Forgiveness Dear Parents and Carers,Forgiveness is the lifeblood of any family or community. In this Sunday’s Gospel the younger son insults hisfather; his inheritance is all he thinks about. To makematters worse, his reason for returning is not loveor consideration for his father, but simply his owndesperate hunger. The father doesn’t even questionhis son’s motives. He welcomes his son back with theopen heart and the open arms of forgiveness. The message for us is that, whatever we may havedone wrong, if we are truly sorry, we can still counton the loving forgiveness of God, who is our Father, and on the freedom that his forgiveness brings.Enjoy a special time with your child exploringthis Sunday’s Gospel and this Wednesday’s word, which is FORGIVENESS.Dom Henry Wansbrough

Wednesday 12 March 2025 The Wednesday word- Encouragement Dear Parents and Carers,There are times when we all need encouraging: thatis, to be inspired with courage and to have our hoperenewed, especially when we are going throughdifficult times. The snapshot of Jesus’ glory in this Sunday’s Gospelwas an encouragement to the three disciples. For thefirst time they received a glimpse of the awesomedivinity of Jesus. But soon they would go throughdifficult times and see Jesus crucified. So beforehand, God tells them to listen to Jesusand allows them to see Jesus for who he really is.Following Jesus isn’t easy: it never was. But if,like the disciples, we too listen to Jesus, we willexperience the encouragement that God offersfreely to each one of us – today.Enjoy exploring this Sunday’s Gospel and thisWednesday’s word, which is ENCOURAGEMENT.Dom Henry Wansbrough

Wednesday 5 March 2025 The Wednesday Word- Lent Dear Parents and Carers,Today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. This is theday when Catholics throughout the world come togetherto celebrate Mass and receive ashes on their foreheads tomark the beginning of the Lenten Season. The season of Lent reminds us of Jesus’ 40 days of fastingand prayer in the wilderness, where he grew strongerthrough resisting various temptations. In this Sunday’sGospel, the tempter makes three suggestions in an effortto divert Jesus from his true mission.Jesus rejects the temptations, one after another – eachtime with a word from Scripture, which is the Word ofGod.It is part of the human condition to face temptations inlife. But the more familiar we become with the Wordof God, the more we too can be strengthened to resisttemptations and be filled with new life. Enjoy your weekand help spread God’s love, through LENT.Dom Henry Wansbrough

Putting our hope inGod is trying to live and do our best in the presentmoment, and then trust the future to God.Simeon is a great example of someone who placedhis hope in God and was blessed by encountering Jesus, the ‘Light of the World’. Wednesday 15 January 2025 The Wednesday Word - Joy Dear Parents & Carers,In this Sunday’s Gospel below, we read from the Gospel of John. John does not record many of Jesus’ miracles, so why is this miracle of changing water into wine given so much importance? It is important for us to know that, although divine, Jesus was also human and enjoyed human happiness. In the Gospel, Jesus helps out the unfortunate bridegroom whose wedding celebrations are on the verge of disaster because they’re about to run out of wine. Jesus’ miracle brings joy to his own mother and gives a joyful celebration to the whole village. This miracle also reminds us about the joy of heaven, which is often described as a wedding-feast to which we are all invited. Jesus came to bring joy to everyone in every age. Happiness comes and goes, but the joy that comes from close friendship with Jesus stays forever.Enjoy a very special time together this evening, hearing your child’s thoughts about this Sunday’s Gospeland this Wed
